Friendly relations between Turkey and Brunei date back to 1984, the year which marks the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Opening of the Turkish Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan on 15 October 2013 and the Embassy of Brunei in Ankara on 8 January 2014 has been an important cornerstone in developing their bilateral relations.

The visit of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to Turkey on 7-11 April 2012 and the visit of the then Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Brunei on 9-10 November 2012 displayed the political will of both sides to improve their cooperation in many fields.

Turkey considers Brunei a friendly country with which she can further enhance and deepen her bilateral relations and a reliable partner with which she can cooperate on the international issues of common concern.

As the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, I am both proud to represent Turkey in this beautiful country and excited to have the opportunity to explore ways and means to increase the cooperation between Turkey and Brunei.
